Solid, but you get what you pay for Mar 01, 2010
By Pamela A. Harazim I ordered this item to be a strictly video player for me, and for the expandable memory. While it works, don't think that you are getting any sort of high quality machine. Pros -Big screen -good sound quality -solid and well-built
Cons -video screen quality is bad, especially in the sun -touchscreen is not like ipod, much less sensitive -doesn't support mp4, although it says it does -when you look at music by artist, there is no way to see the seperate albums -when listening to music, there is no way to know what artist or album it is -the radio picks up no signal, anywhere, at anytime (and i live in an area with dozens of close radio stations)
Don't think you are getting anything of quality. I am highly disappointed with it, and i would recommend you not buy it

An average piece Jul 03, 2010
By Karthik I bought this piece last week and found it be ok, the audio is pretty good and so is the touchscreen, you cannot expect it have a touch screen like itouch, i guess it has capacitive touch screen in it and hence is not so responsive, everything else looked good and now coming to the video part, i recently also bought viewsonic mp3 player with video playback capability, i thought more or less all the video players would be of the same quality, but when i ran this, i must say viewsonic has much better video playback quality and its almost of the same prize, the video plays pretty smoothly but you can see the video as a group of individual pixels, i have no idea what the technical term for this might be,so overall a good mp3/video player, but if you have the option for viewsonic vpd 400, go get that.
PS: And no i dont work for viewsonic.

Great for camping Feb 12, 2011
By DKP I wanted a video & MP3 player that was compact that I could put movies or old TV shows on from DVD. I take it camping or to other places where I might be sitting and waiting for stuff. Picked up an external battery pack that goes through the USB connection for extended play. WORKS GREAT! XP recognizes it. Easy to add and delete files from it. No complaints at all.
Works Great Oct 06, 2011
By mandc I think it works great and is better than expected. It is quite sturdy and heavy. I did find that you need to slide the on - off switch up and hold it for almost 10 seconds before it comes on so the reviewer who hooks it up to the usb port to turn it on try holding the switch up a long time. I had no trouble connecting it to the computer at all. It is basically an external 8 gig USB drive and Windows XP sees it as 2 separate drives. One drive is the unit itself and the other is the external SD card. The video quality is quite good - colors are bright and I think the video motion is wonderful. I really expected it to be jerky or slow but all my videos work great and good quality--anyone who thinks the video is bad must be using junk video converters. There is no fast forward or rewind function which limits its usefulness but if you just want to watch a video the play and pause functions work ok. I had trouble finding a good converter to change DVD movies to MP4 which this thing plays but found a good one free called Handbrake. And there is included a converter for videos which works ok.The built in speaker is almost worthless as very low volume. The icons are much better than expected as just press on the icon and the submenu comes up. Radio function is poor and you NEED the headphones plugged in to get only a few stations --I say don't even bother with this function it really does not work. Has no camera but don't need that function. Photos look good and there is a slideshow function which shows the next picture about 4 seconds later. It has a calculator and stopwatch function as well which work perfect. I have used it to just store files as well. I have had it about 5 months and it works great use it almost everyday.Battery life seems fairly long. I got a real good deal on Amazon and if you don't get a deal might be overpriced--but I was not disappointed at all!!
Hard to use Sep 05, 2011
By K. Allen The unit played well. I had 2 units and returned them both, they were very hard to get to connect up to the computer to download. Ran Driver updates they did not improve the connection, it would go up and down and lock up the file explorer till unplugged. If that was resolved the unit would be nice. Video Size and sound good, good features just a pain on the computer interface.
