Sweet Deal Jul 01, 2010
By saryn dippitty This player kind of stretches the word "portable" in Portable Media Player, but with a 7 inch screen i cant complain. It looks like the manufacturer realized this as it comes with a stand so you can set it up and don't have to constantly hold it to watch a movie. The screen is really bright, and the battery life is a lot longer than i expected. i was able to watch two whole movies and still had some left for music! I never use the E book feature of this player (i own a kindle) but that's not what i bought this player for. i recently connected it via HDMI to my TV and it really plays my HD movies with no loss of Quality. The HDMI Cable included is a little short, but hey, its included for FREE. It even comes with a remote control, so i sat back and relaxed as i blissed =)

Great product Oct 26, 2010
By J. Cordell _________________ E-books. Since this was the larger share of my interest in this item(and no one else covered it), I'll start here. I've only tried .txt formats but they're easy to read, very little blurring or anything. BEWARE: it does not "word wrap" at the right edge of the screen, it simply cuts the letters/words off without a hyphen and resumes on the next line. I used a combination of Notepad++ (which can record macro's) to place new lines(enter key) where the screen fits, and Editpad Lite to replace other characters(These programs are free. Editpad as a GREAT replace feature, most programs are slow when doing a whole book's worth of punctuation). It is not very flexible when it comes to different forms of " ' and , as well as a different type of (space). If these symbols are of the wrong type, it will "eat" the letter next to it and display a chinese looking character, which can make reading difficult at times.
I can read for hours on this thing and not get eye sore at all. Nor do I have to get right up next to it. I can set it on it's stand during dinner and comfortably read it sitting upright. It is a bit heavy to hold but not really any worse than a larger book, just different.
Sorry if any of this is confusing. I bought it because I do read a lot of books on my computer, but that sort of ties me down. This is a perfect solution aside from a little bit of prep work in the ebooks(some of which I would do anyway if it were on my PC). I am unsure if it can read any other sort of files as I've not tried, but I think I saw on other sites that it is txt files only.
Video's and books both will re-open with the option to start where you left off, as long as you backed out to the menu's before shutting it off. The text can be rotated so reading more resembles a real book, but I find it more unwieldy as it cannot be placed in the included stand that way, so I deal with it widescreen.(and you'd have to account for that when formatting text.) ________________
It can charge off of USB or the 5v power adapter, so it is flexible in that regard. The USB can also access the micros SD storage card if you insert one, though the included USB cable is quite short, if you've other's around they work as well mostly. You can also use it while charging, or in the "off" position but the power cable is plugged in.
Mine did have some slight flaws in the red coating(It appears to be a translucent red clear coat over aluminum). A bubble and a scratch on one corner by the play button. They are solid however, scraping with my nail does not budge or expand them.
It seems a very sturdy piece of equipment, though naturally I'm very careful with it.
The microphone hole, though I haven't tried that feature, is not a clear cut hole.
I also have not tried the Video out features to a TV, as my TV is also hooked to my computer, I've absolutely no need.
Resolution is 800 x 480. I'm sure it will scale pictures, but I went through my PC desktop collection and resized many desktops for the TRIO to that and they look excelent. Yes, you can set custom desktops.
You can view pictures or play them as a slideshow as many of those older digital picture frames can do. I do that while charging so that I don't burn the screen and the player doesn't auto-shut off.
Plays video's nicely as well as music(though you can only pause, not search). The audio quality is only as good as your headphones. I've got a nice set of cans and the music sounds great on them, but the included ear buds are definitely not that good.
Charge time leaves a little to be desired at about 4-7 hours for e-book reading, and takes about that to charge to full when not in use. I use the dimmest setting, which is just fine for most environments unless you're watching a naturally dark movie in a bright environment. But then again, a screen this size, the battery life I suppose is to be about right. I haven't watched lengthy movies on this so I cannot attest to it's play time, nor music(half an hour max I've used it for in my car).
Mine also came with all of the advertised cables and such. The whole thing was sealed in a large rigid plastic vacuum type container(Ie it's not a box that can be opened then resealed) that is quite sturdy.
The shipping, though I ordered expedited, was slow, my memory card for it, ordered elsewhere at the default rate, was here much sooner. That was upsetting a bit. ___________________________________ For it's size, life, and ability, I can't imagine a better product for the price. Sure, it's not a touch screen, but if it were, the price and reliability would shift in opposite directions rather rapidly. It's got a nice reflective screen(I find the matte screens tend to scratch easier), but no protective vinyl coating that comes on most electronics. I also, upon scouring the internet, could not find a protective case. If anyone finds one that works well I'd much appreciate a note somewhere.

Just what I always wanted! Oct 13, 2010
By William Fletcher
"Music Lover"
This is a beauty - Plays everything I can throw at it and so lightweight and thin! Just the right size (good compromise) for comfort in holding and viewing on-the-go. I bought it at J&R - no hassle. It fits nicely in a Kindle case for safety in transporting it in my backpack. I bought a vinyl-coated kindle case for it and the feet on this device cling nicely to it as I watch. Charges easily - although I wouldn't necessarily say ultra "fast". Playback time - I use it on the Bus ~3hrs / day and always charge it at home so I cannot quote a realistic "max" hours it could offer on a long trip. The MicroSD slot is very thin - but it works OK - just be diligent and patient (you need fingernails!). You only need to insert the MicroSD card once and can then access it via USB, so the awkwardness of the MicroSD slot is no big deal. The control keys are a bit clunky - I intend to re-mark them so they are easier to see/feel - especially in the dark (the best viewing environment), but they work OK. I bought it to watch video - from movies to YouTube downloads. I listen to audio on my iPod nano - so I can't say much about the MP3 playback on this device, but the audio for the movies is great. I rarely ever have to crank it to max volume to enjoy my videos. So, I would recommend this device if you want a convenient, lightweight, easily portable device which can play all sorts of video files in their native encoding.

So far, I LOVE this player Nov 22, 2010
By Koz I bought this player to entertain my 2 year old in the car. We had a portable DVD player, but it was bulky. The v7000 has been great. We've had it three weeks, so I can't say how it will perform long-term, but we are very pleased so far. I even mounted it to the back of the car headrest using some sticky Velcro for the player and Velcro straps around the headrest (not included).
Pros: *Battery Life: on a full charge, this will run for 3 or more hours. *Storage: The built-in storage holds enough downloaded episodes of my son's favorite shows to entertain him even on long trips. You can also add a micro SD card for TONS of additional storage. *Screen Size: The screen is huge and picture is great. *Portability: It is so easy to take this into a restaurant to keep my son occupied for 30-45 minutes longer than he normally would be. Finally, we can eat without hurry. *Charging Options: can be charged with an AC adapter (included) or via mini USB port *Output Options: An unexpected plus. The unit can be connected to your TV via composite or HDMI outputs. I've played downloaded shows on a 52" HDTV with surprisingly great quality.
Cons: *Remote Control: The remote is a joke. It is flimsy, and the unit doesn't always respond to it *Stand: The stand that comes with the device is flimsy too. Ours broke very quickly *Menu: The menu controls are not intuitive. I wish it had some quickstart buttons (start video, start music, shuffle, etc.) *Car Charging: It does not come with a car charger, so I use a USB car charger. However, you must use a USB car charger that provides more AMPs than the standard ones to provide enough juice to charge the device while it is also playing. Look for ones that advertise "quick charge" *Speakers: The speakers are rear-mounted. They are loud enough to overcome road noise, but I have to turn them to their max to do so.

Great Little Player for a Great Price Oct 21, 2010
By JeeBar I've been using this for a few months now, mostly on trips with the family. It's been everything I wanted and more. Easy to load with movies, easy to use, even for my 6 year old and wife, and the battery lasts a nice long time.
