4More than specs would imply  Apr 26, 2008 By C. Jones "bargain junkie"
I picked up one of these at Target primarily because of the price; it was a clearance item. I'm a bargain hunter by nature and necessity. I admit I wasn't expecting much for the money, but I was mistaken.

Though Nickelodeon branded, it is an Imation/Memorex product and pretty well-built. It doesn't have too many buttons and its design is attractive and functional. Though targeted for children, it is large enough to be held comfortably by an adult.

The built-in USB rechargeable battery still had enough life in it at the time of purchase to bring the device to life and surprise me by the brightness and sharpness of the screen. It held three Nickelodeon video previews which ran smoothly and with surprising clarity for an item built for the younger set. It plays WMV (Windows Media Video)only, but Windows Media Player 10 or above will convert many video formats when you sync to the device, so it's not a big problem. There are also SD cards available with episodes of Nick shows on them, if you so desire.

Oh, yes, the specs didn't point this out but in addition to the built-in gigabyte of internal memory, there is an SD expansion slot tucked away at the bottom. When you sync to Media Player 10 you can sync media to either the internal or external memory easily. With flash memory so cheap these days, your storage capacity is virtually limitless.

I popped in an SD card full of pre-loaded MP3s and the device immediately recognised this and I could play songs with ease. The volume isn't quite as high as one some devices---I am sure to protect tiny ears from damage---but it is loud enough. The built-in equalizer also which comes in handy.

So for the money, I give this little device a pretty good rating. I can play music, download the latest home-video to show friends and co-workers, run a slide-show of family pics and play a couple of simple Java-based games all for less than a c-note.

5great for kids and adults  Jul 01, 2009 By D. Shaw "sister D."
This is one of the best purchases I ever made. I bought one for my daughter and myself. She is seven and likes playing music and games on it. I downloaded a bunch of free games from the internet onto it and they work. (I had to put them in the JAVA folder and add both jar and jad files.) There are few toys that kids will regularly play with for more than a week. This is one of them. As for me, I wanted am mp3 player that had a screen so I would see what is playing. It also has the album cover art. I have also saved pictures on it, which are viewable. The SD card capability is what sold me. I don't even concern myself over the internal space. Oh, the original use was playing cartoons during for my daughter. The videos play nicely. Everything I ever wanted. Very compact.

5It is great  Nov 27, 2009 By Amy J. Burch "ellows"
I bought this for a Christmas gift for my five year old grandson. I preloaded it with stories from the Robert Munsch website and bought books to go along with it. I haven't given it to him yet, but I know he will love it, because I do! It was easy to work with, loaded well, sound is great and is just a super little mp3. I also loaded some video from PBS and it worked great.

5Great Little Player!!  Dec 30, 2009 By Rebekah A. Alvarado "Bekah"
I got this for my daughter for Christmas, and was able to purchase this when it was only 18.00. I spent an entire night trying to figure out how to put video on it and got myself very frustrated. I spoke to my brother and was able to figure out that Windows Media Player will transfer the files to this player and convert them to the WMV files required. I was totally confused as the directions don't give you much help. I am also not the best with downloads and stuff. Once I figured it out, I was very happy with this media player. The movies are clear and the sound is perfect. I put all kinds of music and cartoons on this for my daughter and she layed in bed Christmas day and watched it for hours!! It was well worth the money and I would have actually paid more for it. Since Christmas I have put more movies on the player and added extra memory....it is great!!

3Complicated, but easy once you figure it out!  Jan 16, 2010 By J. Arruiza
We bought this for our 4 yr. old daughter for this past Christmas and it looked & sounded simple to operate, which it is once you figure out how to get the videos onto it. The instructions were not really helpful at all... being the computer tinkerer I played around with it. If you have a Mac good luck. I have a Mac laptop and it wouldn't let me download the Windows Media Player it required to transfer and convert songs, so I had to resort to my husband's desktop PC.. Once I got the correct program downloaded it was easy as pie! The only downside to this is that it will pretty much only hold about 4 30 minute videos. I haven't tried to put any songs on it yet, but Im sure it will be easy with the correct program I downloaded.
