If your package is damaged, check the item. I bought six of these for kids in the family. One package was partially crushed and one of the buttons didn't work on that player. We returned it. The others seem fine, so far.
My husband decided to test one for capability. He's disappointed that there aren't any bookmarks and the player has to cycle through all songs EACH TIME you turn it on. But, for a 1 gig player, it's usable. Kids will love it. And, the price is excellent!
Also, you can add a 2 gig memory card. DH is planning to put his books on the memory card and music only on the player, so he can remove the books when they're not needed. He's using his as a travel player when biking to and from work. He has a much better player, but the other one cost $200 and he doesn't want to drop it while riding. This one is not much of a loss if he ruins it.

Who knew this little mp3 player would sound as good as an iPod, hold so many songs, be so sturdy, and so easy to add music to?
My kids also like that when you shake it it adds funny sounds like drum rolls and cymbals to the music.

I got this one for my niece and the spongebob one for my daughter. This one had no problems starting up and she loves it. I accidentally left my daughters on the floor and I guess someone stepped on it because the screen looks broken and will not charge :( so I have to buy another. But this works great the volume is good. The button on top is a bit flimsy but you can turn it on two different ways I suggest using the play button because it will also allow you to start playback from the same point where it was cut off. I have not noticed a shuffle feature but I don't think kids will mind that very much. Also you have the option to use a memory card, it already holds plenty of songs for a 5 and 6 year old in my opinion but it is a nice option to have. Plus I have seen some of those Disney memory sticks with albums recorded on them I think that would be good for these but as of now its cheaper to just buy songs I know they like. Its the perfect size for small hands and the lanyard is great, it fits around my daughters neck and she was happy when I showed her that because she could now dance and sing hands free. I am told that my niece enjoys hers just as much as my daughter did. The player does feel flimsy I think because of the amount of room needed to house the memory card but it works and that is what counts. Just use the lanyard to prevent accidental falls and this should be a great inexpensive player for a young child.

Got this for my 6 year olds Birthday. Absolutely perfect. The player is durable, the charge lasts. She LOVED it.

Our 6yr old just recieved this product for Christmas. It's very easy for her to use, and I can't get it away from her! I ordered this one because it was cheaper than the more expensive ipods which my daughter doesn't need. The only downfall is that it doesn't have built in speakers, which I thought it did, so she has to wear earphones the entire time, which may not be a bad thing after all, but it comes with them. It also comes with a neck strap so she can sing and dance all around with out having to hold it. We easily downloaded songs from our computer, but you can also put an sd card in the top with music. It charges in 3hrs on your computer. I haven't really found anything bad. I had also ordered one for our 2yr old since they were so cheap, but since it doesn't have speakers, we're keeping it for my neice's B-day next month, I know she's gonna love it too!
