If you are holding out for something better.. this might be for you Dec 03, 2010
By shadowvvolf323 I bought this player on sale for 29.99. Its an ok buy for the price considering that you get 8GB, however the product falls quite short of its first impression. Its frankly quite cheaply made, and there are no sorting features for your music at all. If you want to organize your stuff yourself, this is for you. You must create separate files for each category.. and hopefully those categories don't overlap. I loaded quite a few songs on it, and although there is a screen.. none of my album art was displayed. The menus are also very limited feeling, and scrolling down a list takes forever.
So, if you just want something to throw all your music on and go, yeah the sound quality is great and its lightweight and portable. But don't expect much more than that.

Worst of the Worst Feb 24, 2011
By Rockwulf I have owned a lot of different mp3 players over the years as I have a tendency to be very hard on them and break them. So I've had the opportunity to test many different models and the Eclipse 180 is far and away the worst of the worst. Terrible battery life. Sound volume that even when at the maximum comes out as a whisper even with good headphones. A "shuffle" function that thinks "2 tracks ahead then one back" is random and that pushing the the back button means you didn't want to hear that song again, but a completely different song 2 tracks ahead. A user interface that's completely counter-intuitive. A file structure that makes finding a specific song nearly impossible, and that's JUST the mp3 function!
These people should be ashamed of themselves for putting out a product this bad.

Well, It works good for me....so far. May 01, 2011
By Ashley Billings I work at kmart and we carry these things and we sell them all the time without too many returns on them. So when it went on sell for like 29.99 i think i decided to buy one because I think paying over $200 for an ipod with the same amount of memory is just plain stupid lol, I also bought one for my girlfriend. Ive had this mp3 player for quite a while so i decide to look on amazon and see what other people thought and all the reviews say this ones terrible...well heres MY pros and cons list:
PROS 1. very lightweight, thin, and not too big so fits perfectly in a pocket or whatever.
2. the screen is big enough that it can display the song and the time remaining and all that, and when youre looking for a song you can scroll through and see whats a few songs ahead and behind, unlike some other cheap mp3 players where the screen is so small u can only see the song selected and not whats ahead and behind.
3. i separated my music into folders and put them on my mp3 player and am easily able to look through each folder to find the song i want.
4. The battery lasts a pretty long time, like 8 hours or more, and you dont have to recharge it for very long, probably like an hour or so, a lot of cheap mp3 players use AAA batteries that die in like 2 hours so i was glad to see this comes with a lithium ion battery and a usb cable to charge it up.
5. it comes with free earbuds
CONS 1. appears to be cheaply made...im always afraid im going to break the power switch every time a touch it..but hasnt happened yet
2. i wish it could get louder, some songs can get pretty loud, but others, even at maximum volume it stills sounds kinda quiet, i guess if you had some real expensive headphones it might solve that problem.
3. Sometimes with certain mp3s i put on there, it will say format error...and im positive theyre mp3s...dont know what thats about, but it is very rare that that ever happens.
4. NO SHUFFLE OPTION...or at least i didnt see one
5. one more thing, it isnt really a prob for me since i just wanted it for music not video, but i tried to put one or two avi files on it and a youtube vid (.flv file) and this mp3 doesnt accept either one of those formats....those are the most popular formats of videos and this one doesnt accept it?
So all in all, I give this thing 3 out of 5. I use it everyday on my lunchbreak, in my car, and when im jogging, it hasnt messed up on me yet and ive had it almost a year i think. My girlfriends had hers the same amount of time and no problems with her either. So for 29.99-49.99 you cant go wrong, just dont expect ipod quality. But if your just a simpleton who wants some music to listen to and thats it for a decent price I highly recommend this one!

awsome player, cheap price Aug 12, 2010

"anime collecter and hobbiest"
ok, im not a big fan of ipods, way to expensive for my taste, but this eclipse is 8 gigs and only $40, i just got this a few days ago, had no problems yet, crossing my fingers, its VERY light you can barely feel it in your hand, very thin, not bulky and will defanately fit in a shirt pocket, the battery lasts 8 hours each charge and only takes about an hour, hour and a half at best to fully charge.buttons take a few minutes to get used to, theres not many lol but its VERY simple, only need about 10 minutes to get familiar with it. i recomend gtting a $7 pair of headphones though, of course, since its a cheap player, theres cheap headphones that sound kinda crappy, hey its better then spending $400 on an ipod with the same amount of memory, i know i dont have that much. so as this player goes, id recomend it to anyone, provided you take the chance and spend the $40, its worth it trust me.

dead after three months Jan 22, 2011
By finn dashahar Purchased the unit in October, it played fine until January when it simply quit powering on. Warranty info is a joke; no info in the manual or online other than a telephone number to call that's not even toll-free. I thought the price was right when I purchased, but turns out I got exactly what I paid for. My advice? Be a wary consumer and just pass this product by.
