Don't Waste Your Money!!! Feb 21, 2011
By IntlTraveler I bought this as a cheap replacement laptop for my PowerBook, which was stolen. I'm a consultant and I just needed a laptop to get me through the next two years while I'm traveling abroad. I didn't want to invest in a MacBook and risk losing or damaging it in my travels. But, this was definitely the WRONG choice.
HARDWARE ISSUES (BSOD) I've had the computer for about six weeks now. The very first week I had it, I got a Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) error. I now realize that it occurs any time you leave the computer on for more than four hours, which is practically every day. This causes me to loose my work and spend significantly more time on client projects. I realize that I may have just gotten a faulty laptop, but now that I'm already abroad there's pretty much nothing I can do about it. Although, before I bought it, I read complaints about other HP models that have hard drive issues, which is what seems to be causing the BSoD.
OPTICAL (CD/DVD) DRIVE The optical (CD/DVD) drives, also stops working every one out of three times.
QUICK LAUNCH BUTTONS I HATE the quick keys on the left. It's an unnatural placement which means I continually hit the calculator key every time I want to hit shift. This is something I hate about PCs in general. Why can't you just leave well enough alone when it comes to the keyboard?!
WIDESCREEN I also don't like how short the screen is. The aspect ratio is off. The screen is wide, but the height is limited which makes viewing many web sites difficult. And designing them even MORE difficult.
SUMMARY All in all, completely worthless. I'm selling it to the first bidder and buying a MacBooK. HP, never again!
