2Be Careful!  Aug 19, 2010 By Carter
Be careful when ordering/receiving this product from Amazon. I recently ordered a "new" HP dv6 3030us from Amazon.com, not some third party distributor. Let's just say it was not "new" when it arrived at my door. While all the correct plastic protector guards/shields were on the laptop, there were marks that it had been used before, and I am not talking about finger prints.

The top/screen portion of the laptop actually had spacing between two pieces of plastic, i.e. someone had used/abused this laptop and it was re-packaged and sent to me. There were also scratch marks and abrasions on the actual keypad portion. All of these indications make me believe that this laptop hadd been operated by someone else prior to my taking ownership. Overall I am very disappointed with this purchase and considering asking for my money back via product return.

I would recommend ordering the computer directly from HP's webiste. Alas, I needed mine pronto and the quickest HP could deliver was 12-18 days, or I would have done the same.

I will keep you up to date on any issues/problems if I do try to return the laptop.

1Really bad mouse pad!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Sep 18, 2010 By Richard J. Martin
While the basic laptop is fine, the new mouse pad is a disaster! I have tried to modify the mouse pad settings yet the pointer goes its own merry way. I have to use the "ctrl" key to find the pointer. I'm not the first to experience this issue. I now use an external mouse which is ridiculous for a laptop! Did anyone at HP test drive this?

5NO problems at all  Feb 06, 2011 By Bri. Anderson
I received this product on the expected date within reasonable time. It was indeed BRAND NEW, sorry for the previous buyer who happened to receive a used laptop but once i inspected mine and thoroughly looked at it, there was no doubt that it was a new laptop. Actually amazon.com did great with processing my order in a timely manner, originally I'd tried to online order directly from Hp and it was such a hassle. They repeatedly placed my debit card on hold for days at a time and then processes and re-processed the same information over and over. Then after a week and a half of such bad service, they politely insisted that I take my business elsewhere. Though amazon was my last resort at first, it will definitely be my first choice next time.

Now the laptop Pros:
nice size
lightweight
great speakers
fingerprint scanning security

Cons:
spaced keyboard
a lot of unnecessary but appreciated programs

5Impressed!  Sep 16, 2010 By C. Behanna
So I always hear, "never get an HP! It'll break within a year!" Well, that might be true, but as I've only had this laptop for, oh, a day, my review will obviously be based on my preliminary findings.

To preface further, I have been a Mac user for the past four years. After my ancient MacBook finally bit the dust, I found I didn't have enough money to shoot for my preferred MBP 13", so I found this to fit my needs instead.

First off, the design is wonderful. It's not all that heavy (for being a 15.6 inch laptop) and feels very solid. The brushed aluminum is a nice touch that adds to the solidity. One thing I dislike about the design is the shiny black plastic around the screen and in-between the keys. It collects dust like crazy and is pretty susceptible to fingerprints. Of course, this is only an aesthetic point and I'm just whining. :) Over all, it's a beautiful design.

The trackpad is something I rather like. It doesn't have dedicated right and left click buttons, making them instead flush with the whole trackpad. There is an elongated "T" like line indicating where the buttons are. Some might find it difficult to use this when you're not looking at it because you can't tell where the buttons are in relation to the actual trackpad. You get used to it. I've only had it a day and I intuitively navigate my way around the trackpad.

The keyboard is nice. There is a set of dedicated media buttons along the left side of the keyboard and, unlike on other HP models where the keyboard is similar, it doesn't set off the keyboard overly much. The keys are spaced out very nicely (similar to how Apple goes about it, which I like) and typing is easy. It's pretty quiet, too.

One of the other reviews on here complained about receiving a used and/or refurbished model from Amazon. Thankfully, it doesn't appear that mine is. I would exercise caution when receiving it and check it over thoroughly to see if that happened to you.

As far as the processor and Windows 7 is concerned, I'm a bit of a dummy in that area. I like Windows 7 well enough. Much better than when I played around with Vista. The i3 processor seems to handle multitasking very well. I often have a lot of things going on and there's rarely any noticeable "burping" of apps, so to speak.

In conclusion, if the specs are right and you like the design, this might be your laptop. I don't have any major complaints and I'm happy with everything so far.

5the best laptop I've had  Dec 12, 2010 By Johnny Ramirez
I had my doubts about whether the product was new or not, but I received it in perfect condition. I'm really happy with my purchase. Another thing I want to say is that the trackpad I feel good, I do not know why other buyers say it's bad. Excellent laptop.
