Description

Music addicts finally have the product they've been waiting for: a small very reasonably priced player featuring up to 16GB of disk capacity to store up to 8000 songs. We're talking about days of non stop music! Need more Well the ARCHOS 2 also hosts a MicroSDHC card slot so that you can add more music to the already huge amount that you've got. It's compatible with MicroSDHC (HC meaning High Capacity) and standard MicroSD cards so you can add plenty more music to your player. It's really easy to organize it with the music library settings letting you choose by artist album or title. In a nutshell the essentials. And since you're asking it to play the most popular music files such as MP3 and WMA3 your ARCHOS 2 has you covered. You can also clearly show your photos on the 1.8" screen. Sure the ARCHOS 2 is mostly about music but why not keep a few dozen photos with you It's a lot easier than carrying a 7" photo frame in your pocket isn't it And since there is a nice little screen we added lyrics files compatibility so that you can read what you are listening to at all time.

3You can do better for price  Sep 12, 2009 By S. Recupido
The hardware is built well. The software is the main problem with this player. There is no bookmarking support for podcasts and it doesn't even remember your spot when you restart the player. If all you want is a cheap player that resides in your car or for use while walking around town this is fine. Once again the interface is horrible. Get yourself a sansa fuze and install rockbox and you'll be golden.

1Fizzled Out Promptly  Aug 14, 2011 By BMWCJS
Probably played this for approximately 20 hours. Worked well with first few syncs. Then, I downloaded 4 more albums. After selecting any song the device LOCKS UP.None of the titles played. So much for Archos2 ...I guess the 2 means I have to BUY a second MP3 player?

1Why didn't I listen to the internet?  Sep 04, 2010 By Corey Livingston
Maybe it is unfair for me to review this product, but I will say that every user review site I read had over half the reviews reporting product failure. Archos is notorious for dropping the ball on products, build something that looks and (for all intents and purposes) displays well, but doesn't last very long. I had this player out of the box for maybe an hour? That might be too generous, anyway the Headphone jack started failing right there and then, I had to fiddle with it and make sure it sat in a very specific position in my pocket so that it wouldn't crackle or only produce sound in one ear, and then the firm ware started crashing. That was fun, I thought I'd broken it at first getting so frustrated with the jack, when I call customer service the guy said it wasn't my fault and they just make so many that some don't work, I didn't know you could have company policy to make Sh**y products and still make money, Archos has no problem with it though. The guy on the phone actually told me I would be better off buying something else if I didn't want to go out of my price range, bad advertising no? So yes, it's my bad, I should have listened to the internet, I'd say buy a Sony instead. Or an Ipod, I think I've heard good things about those...

3it's alright for the price  Dec 29, 2009 By K. Candler
I was very excited to get this. I heard great things about it. I am disappointed with it tho. If I pause it for a minute, it will turn off and start you from the main menu each time. Sometimes, if I've been listening to it for a few minutes it will just shut off for no reason. I also have problems whenever I try to change to another song, the button will stick, and I will have to push and push until it will change the song. The sound is alright. I was hoping for something a little better, but I didn't pay much for it so I'm not surprised.

3Fairly decent player for the price I paid, but lacking a little.  Aug 10, 2009 By Barbara Van Etten
Just received the player, (I see the price has gone up since I ordered mine) I have loaded about half of my music. No genre supported, at least I haven't found it yet. Not sure if this is a problem with all the devices or not but, I have trouble with the ear bud jack staying tight enough that I don't loose sound. As long as you hold it ear bud jack steady, or lay the device down and don't move it around it works. I've tried 3 different ear buds, same problem with all 3. Debating on sending it back and trying another, will look into the return policy see how long I have to make up my mind. I was considering on getting the extra memory card (which was a major selling point for me), but maybe not after reading the previous reviews. Overall a nice little device, simple to use.

8/26/2009 - Just wanted to add, I did sent the player back for an exchange. The replacement had the same problem. You have to hold to ear bud jack in place. I sent this one back as well, this time for a refund. At this point I would only give it 0 to 1 star on the rating system. Not very pratical if you have to hold it together.
