A waste of money Jun 03, 2009
By H. Hurlock We bought this as an end of the year gift for our daughter for straight A's. She wanted an iTouch but we thought this might be a better option and certainly a better price. (At the time I ordered it was $60.97 with free shipping). Well it arrived and turned on.... that is about it! We could not get music on it. The camera is NO WAY a 2MP at most its 640 X 480. The photos are horribly grainy and the camera must be set on a low shutter speed because every picture is a blur. The "touch screen" is more like a "maybe if you press really really hard it'll work screen". We got none of the other features to work so I can't comment on them.
When you first pull it out of the box you think... is this real or some hollow plastic display? It feels so cheap and like it will break if you squeeze it to hard. I would not pay $15 for this and be happy. In fact I would not pay anything for this and be happy because it just doesn't work and what does work on it is SOOO difficult to use its annoying.
Thank goodness for Amazon and their easy return policy for items like this. I would have been so upset if I had been stuck with a $60 piece of plastic. ( and yes... it is nothing but cheap plastic from front to back).
I wish I could say this would be a great alternative to the iTouch but in the end I am spending the extra money and going to get the product that I know will work and hold up over time.

Junk Jul 23, 2009
By K. Linehan I really only wanted an mp3 player with 8gb capacity. My first problem came when it just froze up and wouldn't turn on. After a bit of searching, I found the support number for Eclipse TCH828. I had to download a firmware file to fix the problem. This erased everything I had put on the device, but it worked again.
The second ongoing problem I had was the player's inability to keep track of the music by the usual categories of artist, album, and genre. It does in a haphazard fashion and when it can't figure something out, it places it in a category called "Unkown" (sic). That is if you're lucky. Otherwise it doesn't categorize them at all. I called the support staff again and was told I had to ID3 tag them. I explained to him that all the mp3 files had the correct identifying tags. He told me to erase everything in Audio and then drag one file into Audio. When I did this it worked for the one file. I told him that it works for some but not all files. He told me I didn't have an issue that he could duplicate, therefore he could not help me.
Today, the player froze up again. It's in the trash. I wouldn't buy any product from this company (Mach Speed).

Save your money for a better product. Feb 15, 2010
By Joanne L. Schultz I wish I had just saved the money toward a better quality item, you get what you pay for. I purchased 2 of these for my children for Christmas.
Both items were unfunctional within a month. The touch screen was cheap and very difficult to use, you really had to press hard to get response, and using more pressure appears to have damaged the item to some extent.
It was hard to navigate and figure out where files were stored, and how to get music files to play in playlists. Very un-user friendly interface and very little by way of instructions on how to use it.
I am looking into sending both back for refunds. We only loaded 2 CDs worth of music to each, and both have died and will not come away from the "please wait" screen when trying to turn it on.

Save up for something nicer Nov 22, 2010
By jlu I needed an mp3 player with more memory than my last 4 GB mp3, but an Ipod seemed too expensive, so I settled on this thing. It was cheaper ($70.00 at the time I bought it)and still had the touch screen and camera, so I thought it was a good deal. I wasn't expecting all the bells and whistles of the Ipod, but I was expecting it to WORK.
I took it out of the package and immediately I knew it was going to be a cheaply made thing. It just felt hollow. It turned on ok, and the display was nice and bright, so I thought it would be ok. That is, until I started to put music on it. Once I synced all my music on it, I was baffled to find that my music wasn't even in my playlist, yet it was apparently on the device. I found my media in the "explorer" menu, but had no idea how to get it to my main playlist. I called tech support, and they told me to move some stuff around (I think I had to move "audio" to "music" or something like that) And that seemed to work. But, now, whenever I added a new song, I had to find it in the explorer menu, not an easy thing since there is like, no organization on this thing, and transfer the file manually. Then, not too long ago, I lost all my music somehow (had to re-sync EVERYTHING), and I'm STILL trying to figure out how to get the music in the playlist, because moving audio to music didn't seem to work this time. I'm just gonna go back to my 4GB mp3 player (if I can find it) and save up for a Zune or an Ipod, this isn't worth the $70.00 I paid for it. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't have bought it if it were $5.00
Also, the sound quality is pretty bad, No matter what headphones I use with it. There's static or something, some kind of background noise. It gets pretty annoying. The camera isn't the best, but to be honest, that's the least of my concerns with this thing.
Bottom line: When it comes to mp3 players, you get what you pay for. Do yourself a favor and do your homework, don't just go out on a limb and buy one without reading the reviews.

it's ok for the money Oct 23, 2010
By jdesmond Well I actually got mine for 40 dollars, so I am impressed. Sure it isn't like the ipod touch i got for my fiance, but for 1/10th the price what the hell do you expect. After hours of messing around to get it to turn on and to calibrate the screen. It works. Well if I would have went with an ipod all i could have gotten was one of the old models with just buttons for the same price...so I am glad I purchased this. Though a warning to all, if you don't have patience don't buy it.
